THE SCULPTURAL REFORM

The Sculptural Reform is a high-modern Passive House (3 Bed/3.5 Bath) for Altadena, achieving Passive House Classic certification. It is a live-project model with Planning Approval, set for construction in 2026.

The mountainous massing is oriented to optimize views while the extended upper floor passively shades the lower level. Solar gain is managed by integrated motorized exterior blinds. The design utilizes pre-charred wood (shou sugi ban) for superior fire resilience. Affordability and durability are met with regional materials and an open plan connected by an elevator for permanent accessibility. This project sets the standard for resilient, contemporary rebuilding.
