The Circle of Hope serves as a living memorial, subtly incorporating architectural elements from the culturally significant buildings lost in the fire. The east façade, with its series of arched windows, pays homage to the beloved Altadena Community Church by Harry L. Pierce, while the northeast corner features a tower at the entry, reminiscent of the Church's bell tower. The southwest corner acknowledges the lost Scripps Hall by Charles W. Buchanan through its distinctive gable windows. Finally, the northwest corner integrates playful, bunny-shaped window and entry cut-outs, a whimsical nod to the cherished Bunny Museum.
Cultivating TOGETHERNESS and HOPE: The Circle of Hope is designed to foster a sense of TOGETHERNESS and renewed HOPE. By collaging remnants of destroyed buildings, the memorial actively acknowledges the shared experience of loss, while the new architectural elements symbolize resilience and the promise of a brighter future. The center will provide a space for community gatherings, healing workshops, and educational programs, fostering a sense of unity and empowering residents to rebuild their lives and their community.
